About Us

Established in 2009, Beyond Accounting Limited provides a range of accountancy and taxation services to small businesses and individuals based in the Home Counties and Greater London (click here for additional details of the services available).

Although the firm is newly established, Kevin Penn (the founding director) has been working in small accountancy firm’s since graduating from Loughborough University in 1998, initially as an employee, and then as a partner between 2003 and 2009. The experience and training gained during this period, together with a desire to ‘do things better’, were the motivation that ultimately led to the formation of Beyond Accounting Limited.

We have the resources to cater for the needs of local businesses without being so big that the client becomes just a number. All staff are encouraged to undergo relevant approved training towards their professional qualifications, and once qualified to attend professional seminars to maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant accounting and taxation issues.

We have invested heavily in our software and computer systems to ensure that we can provide the best possible service to our clients’, and will continue to do so in the future - there is a real need to make sure staff and systems are prepared for a period of change as online filing of accounts and returns become mandatory (from 1 April 2011, all original company tax returns will need to be filed electronically to HMRC with accounts and tax computations attached in iXBRL format).

Our aim is to take away the day to day problems of dealing with finances and the tax authorities, leaving the owners and entrepreneurs more time to concentrate on what they do best.

Meet the people

Kevin Penn BSc.(Hons), FCCA

As the founding director, Kevin is ultimately responsible to the growth and development of the accountancy practice, and for ensuring that clients receive the level of service they have been promised and would expect from their accountancy provider.

Outside of work, Kevin is a keen sportsman and currently plays Saturday league football, the occasional round of golf, enjoys going to the gym, and really enjoys his annual ski trips. In addition to his sporting interests, Kevin also enjoys Travel, going to the Cinema, and the Theatre.

Carly Bell, mAAT

Carly joined the firm in July 2010 as an assistant accountant. She provides a range of services to clients, including bookkeeping, accounts production, tax return preparation (personal and corporate), and completion of VAT returns. She also deals with regular payroll and administrative tasks.

Carly is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and has recently passed her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exams. She is currently an affiliate of ACCA and is working towards her practical experience objectives in order to become a member of the association.

Outside of work and when she is not studying Carly likes to cook, although she wouldn't call herself a chef! She regularly exercises to keep herself fit and healthy. Carly also loves her holidays and spending quality time with friends and family.
